In-House Travel Program Ages 9U - 11U


Tryouts – September 14th @ 5:30pm - Village Green

 

Plan to arrive at 5pm by the pavilion between VG7 and VG8 to register

  • Max roster of 15 at each age level
  • Coaches chosen after rosters determined
  • Participate in similar Rebel full-time off-season training program; January – March with White Sox Academy
  • Participate in Glen Ellyn house league as at large house league player (mandatory)
  • Participate in the Chicagoland travel league with Rebel team
  • Play a minimum of 3 travel tournaments with Rebel team (non-house weekends)
  • $700 per player fee (fee includes house league fee)
  • Uniform/gear is additional cost, ala carte…approximately $75
  • 30-40 total games between April 1st – and July 12th
  • 75% of all games played in Glen Ellyn at Village Green

Fall Baseball Registration Now Open

Registration for Fall Ball is now open.  Participants can register online at www.gepark.org.

Leagues are divided by the following age groups: 9U (8 & 9 year olds), 11U (10 & 11 year olds) and 13U (12 & 13 year olds). The age of the player as of April 30th of the current year determines the league age.

Spring Baseball Registration - Deadline Extended

Still need to register your son or daughter for Spring Baseball?  Registration can be done in person at either Spring Avenue or Main Street Recreation Centers or on the Glen Ellyn Park District Website - click www.gepark.org 

The Early Registration Deadline has been extended to February 14!  Sign up now!

 
GBW Hilltoppers One Night Camp
The GW baseball coaches and varsity players will be conducting a one-night camp on Friday, January 17 for players ages 8-14.  For more information, please click here.

2013 Rebels Travel Tryouts

There wil be a makeup tryout for the Rebels travel teams (all age groups) for those that could not make it this past weekend.

The tryout will take place this Saturday, Aug. 11th between 10 am and 2 pm at Ackerman Sports and Fitness Center. Please show up any time between these hours regardless of age group. Please expect it to take at least an hour to complete the tryout.

 
The Rebels Are Finishing the Season Strong!

Congratulations to the Rebels travel program on the recent success of a number of their teams! 

The 14u Black team won the Myrtle Beach South Carolina Cal Ripken tournament. The team went 4-1 in pool play to win the top seed heading into single elimination. They went on to beat an Ohio Team in quarter finals and beat a "Rawlings" sponsored team from St. Louis in semifinals in extra innings. They won the championship game in the last inning by one run over a team from Miami, Florida!!  They went 7-1 overall for the tournament.

The 13U Red team finished 1st in their WSBL division. 

The 12U Black team finished 1st in their WSBL division and 3rd in the Winfield tournament.

The 10U Black team (pictured above) finished 1st in their WSBL division and 1st in the in the Streamwood Father's Day Madogs tournament. They were 4-1 in the tournament and won the championship game 8-7.

The 10U Red team came in first place in the Kettle Moraine Tournament in Wales, WI.

Part Time Travel Update
Thanks to everyone who attended the Part Time Travel tryouts. Unfortunately, there was only enough interest to support a 9U Part Time Travel team for this summer. 
Cubs Trolley Will be at Village Green on Saturday


The Chicago Cubs Trolley will make an appearance at Village Green this Saturday.

Village Green Park on Saturday, June 2nd  from Noon - 3pm

The Cubs Trolley brings the Cubs and the Wrigley Field experience to local communities and events for everyone to enjoy! Featuring special giveaways, interactive games, and the latest Cubs information, the Cubs Trolley brings the ultimate Cubs fan experience to you!

The trolley is decorated with signature Cubs landmarks and memorabilia, such as Wrigley Field seats, customized bats, a celebrity-signed home plate, replica foul poles and more.


Also, meet local author JD Gordon and hear about his new book "Field of Screams"

To celebrate this great event we will be offering 2 for 1 hot dogs all day at the concession stand!

If you ordered tickets for Thursday's White Sox outing you can pick them up at Spring Ave Rec Center. Thank you for supporting the program with your purchase. It should be a great night.

 
Part-time Summer Travel Tryouts are this Saturday the 19th

All participants should arrive at the beginning of their session. Here is the schedule:

13&14U: 8 am - 9:30 am at Village Green, fields 1 & 3

9U: 9 am-10:30 am VG 7&8

12U: 9:30 am-10:30 am VG 7&8.

10U: 10:30-11:30 am VG 5&6

11U: 10:30 am-11:30 am VG 5&6

Players must be currently enrolled in our house league and live in our Little League boundary to be eligible. Please bring a birth certificate and some proof of residency such as a utility bill to the tryout. Summer travel runs from the end of June to the end of July. All kids trying out must be available for at least 3 out of 4 weekend tournaments. The fees are $200 resident, $300 non-resident. Fees will not be prorated for tournaments not played in. If a level does not have 12 players that are interested in playing, there will not be a team at that level.

Managers

There will be a baseball/equipment pickup on Monday April 2nd for those who have not received baseballs or equipment for their team. It will take place from 5:30-7:30 pm at Village Green.

An announcement on field conditions will be sent out later today (Sunday).

 
House League Registration Deadline

The House League Registration Deadline is Monday, February 6th.  After this date, late fees apply.

 
Glen Ellyn Joins Little League Baseball
Glen Ellyn Youth Baseball is excited and proud to announce its new affiliation with Little League Baseball beginning with the upcoming 2012 season. By joining an organization with such an established reputation, the great tradition of baseball in Glen Ellyn will get even better, building on the amazing work done by so many volunteers over the past 60 years.

Little League, founded in 1939 in Williamsport, Pa., is the world’s largest youth sports program with more than 2.8 million children and 1 million volunteers in more than 100 countries. More than 30 million people have played in Little League programs. Its storied history has captured the hearts of young ball players and families around the world, with many having witnessed at one time or another the pinnacle of youth baseball on TV during the Little League World Series.

Our affiliation with Little League will provide several exciting benefits to help ensure a fun and rewarding baseball experience for all participants that include:

  • Participation in the ‘Road to Williamsport’ for the part-time summer travel program (comprised of 12U House League players)
  • Other unique tournament opportunities for part time summer travel teams (various age levels)
  • A well-defined, consistent rule structure at all levels provided by Little League to help make games easier to manage
  • Extensive on-line library valuable tools and resources for all age levels to help coaches, parents and players with practice planning and skill development. 
  • An on-line resource center for umpires to help with game calling and management

By combining our stronger alignment with the White Sox Academy and the official support of Little League and the Park District, this next generation of Glen Ellyn Baseball will prove to be a fantastic experience for all. 
Registration for Spring House League Baseball
In-Person registration for players, as well as those interested in coaching or umpiring will be held on Saturday, January 28th at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School (350 Bryant Avenue) from 9 AM to Noon.

Take this time to visit with league commissioners or other volunteers to talk baseball for 2012, ask any questions you might have or even volunteer to help make 2012 the best baseball season ever in Glen Ellyn. Merchandise, including different styles of shirts/sweatshirts and hats will be on sale as well. For those who are unable to stop by in person, registration can be done on-line through the Park District web site before the 28th.

Pitch, Hit and Run Competition
Glen Ellyn Little League Baseball hosted an Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Competition on May 5th and 6th at Village Green Park. The festivities kicked off with a tee-ball players parade at Village Green on Saturday and over 400 kids participated in the event. Winners of both the Saturday and Sunday competitions can be found here. Thank you to everyone who participated!! 

 
Emergency Pinto/Mustang League Meeting

A meeting to discuss the format of the Pinto/Mustang Leagues for this year is scheduled for Thursday, March 1st at 7pm at the Main Street Recreation Center.  Interested parents and coaches are invited to attend.

All training will take place at the Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center.

Glen Ellyn Youth Baseball is proud to announce the dates for its annual Glen Ellyn Classic hosted by our travel program, the Glen Ellyn Rebels. Rebels Come Up Big

Congratulations to the Rebels 12U Red team who finished runner up in the Lombard Spring Classic after losing to Arlington Heights in the championship game 8-2. One run victories over Lombard and Glenview earned the Rebels the #1 seed in pool play.
